CCSU Police warn of COVID relief scam

The Central Connecticut State University Police Department has received reports of a scam where college students are being targeted as part of a COVID relief scam. A University student in Connecticut fell victim to this scam after receiving an e-mail stating they can receive an undisclosed amount of money for school due to a COVID relief fund.  Victims are sent a fraudulent check, but then a second email arrives saying there was a mistake and the money needs to be sent back.  The original fake check bounces causing the students to be out of money.
