Police sergeant charged with assaulting woman during booking

HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) - A Hartford police sergeant who struck a woman in the face after she spat at him while being booked has been charged with misdemeanor assault. Authorities announced the arrest of Sgt. James Guzie on Tuesday on a third-degree assault charge. Police released officer body camera video that shows Guzie punching Felicia Jenkins in the face immediately after she spat at him. A message seeking comment was left for Guzie. The Hartford Police Union says Guzie's use of force was warranted because Jenkins threatened the safety of officers. Jenkins was being booked on trespassing and breach of peace charges at the time.
